a couple a months ago i posted a thread on the good and bad of converting fron I/O to outboard someone mentioned if you pull the inboard out and put a outbaord on it will through the balance off which makes sense. my question is i'm keeping it as a I/O but i need to add a smaller engine for trolling out the channel as the channel is very shallow and i don't want to suck up mud in the Alpha adding the outboard will this through the balance off to much to add?

A 10 hp would be fine. Get a kicker motor bracket (there are many types available). Should have no impact on the boat whatsoever. This is a very typical setup for trolling or backup motor.
