I just purchased a 1983 winyah bass boat with a 85 hp Johnson motor. 1977 model this is my first bass boat and its in really good shape for the year and I have had a pontoon with a 60 hp Johnson on it. 88 model I know that Johnson is a good motor. the boat how ever I have never heard of...im just trying to see if any body has ever heard of it and can give me a little insight on it. google is of no help. also the motor doesn't have a "weep" hole( the place where water shoots out of while running, I don't know the proper name) the pontoon motor had one. ive been told that this motor of its year was before they implemented weep holes. if this is true how do I know when the water pump stops working other then over heating. and can I install a weep hole. Im new to the bass boat scene and to this make model etc of boat and this older model of motor any tips info etc would be greatly useful THANKS!!!

The only thing I find with the "Winyah" name is Scout Boats makes two models of their bay boats; the 177 Winyah and the 221 Winyah.

The title says it's a winyah 160. The results I found when I searched it was winyah bay boats and they all appeared to be salt water vessels. What you came up with, we're they a bass boat style? Thanks!

Winyah Bay (the place) is in Georgetown, SC, which is where Hi-Tide (now Mi-Tide) boats are/were made. You might give them a call. It could be something they made or at least know about.
