I have just put a new powerhead on my 1984 115 Yammy AETO. Naturally accompaning this powerhead I replaced the water pump. Guess what it is not pumping very hard at all. As a matter of fact the faster I go the slower it pumps. I checked with the guy that rebuilt my powerhead and gave me a list of things to check. The base plate gasket, the seals on the pump housing, the water tube in the towerhousing, pull the thermostat covers off and see how it was flowing out of here. Did all that, I have twins so I pulled the thermostat housing off of the motor that was pumping good so I would have a comparison, when I checked the motor that was weak it was coming out nothing like the good motor. I also tried swaping pump, housing and everything off a lower unit I have that was pumping great when removed. If you guys could shed any light on the situation I would appreciate it.
