1984 115HP Carb Cleaning

I have a 1984 115hp tower of power with same issue. six cylinder's on top of each other is the tower. I have to rebuild my trips also, when it stops raining on cape cod. good luck,kingskid7

carbs are junk,not rebuildable, got a nice fresh water set on ebay. now on the spark plug I got broken cylinder block bolts that are frozen in block,,any ideas gang? I have tried kobalt drill bits, got two of them that way, I have got 3 stubborn ones to go. what do you guys think? thanks,kingskid7

First of all, most carbs are rebuildable. What about yours makes them not rebuildable?

Secondly, which cylinder block screws are you discussing? Have you pulled the powerhead? It is much easier to pull the powerhead and address those screws with heat and penetrating oil and an impact driver.

the original carbs I could not get apart the brass was frozen in the aluminum so I got a nice set on ebay and installed them. thanks, kingskid7

the cylinder cover issue is still a problem, 16 bolts I got 11 out snapped 5 with 1/4'' drive ratchet. I was able to remove to remove 2 more after I got the cover off. I have got 3 stubbon ones. kobalt bits do not want to penetrate. has any of you guys got any good ideas. thank, kingskid7

Find someone with a tig welder. If the bolts are close enough to the case surface weld the inside of a steel washer of similar size down onto the bolt. Weld a nut to the washer and spin out with an impact wrench while its all hot. The heat from the welding will help free the bolt.

Put the block onto a drill press table. See if you can get some left hand drill bits. Get the best ones (Cobalt?) you can. Centerpunch the broken bolts and drill a 1/8" hole, in the exact center of the bolt. Use oil to keep it cool. The bolt may turn out. If not, drill it to original size and retap it.
