My engine was not submerged but a wave came over the back when I was trying to figure out why it wouldn't start. Then anoter wave came over and got it again before I could get the engine going. That was the begining of the horror story but what do I do now. I didn't want to try to start it to further damage. What would you all recommend. Thanks...

Re: 1984 140 Evinrude filled with water

Since your in Florida I will assume it was salt water. Rinse it down good with fresh water and start using wd-40 on all your eceltricals.

Pull the plugs and make sure there is no water in the cylinders, drain the carbs and crank it over (w/o plugs installed).

Install a single plug and start to crank it checking for spark. Once you have established you have spark install all your plugs and fresh fuel/oil mix.

Put the muffs on it and start it up.

Bob
