1984 150hp Evenrude VRO (what's VRO)?

Howdy folk's, anybody know what the VRO means or stands for? It's on the cover of the motor it says Evenrude 150 VRO<br />Thanks... Heaty

Howdy heaty1. VRO stands for Variable Ratio Oiling. The theory was to give the engine anywhere from 50:1 to 150:1, depending on throttle setting. The system was unreliable and was replaced later with a plain oil injection system. Many people disconnect VRO (including me) and use 50:1 premix. It's the safe bet.<br /><br />Happy boating.<br />JB
