1984 15hp Sea King/Chrysler runs for a few minuts and stops (barrel)

I got this as a freebie...sn is 48X32139....and put in new points to get it to run and also cleaned the carb internally. It is missing the starter but using a rope it started and was running pretty well for several minutes and just stopped. It was not running at a low rpm...maybe 1,500. I think it may need a needle and seat because the float sits higher than parallel when inverted.

Sounds like the fuel pump isn't working?
Maybe the squeezie or the hose is bad?
Ethanol melts older hoses and can cause deterioration of the inside..
The float can be adjusted for proper operation.
If it's too high it can be shutting it down when the bowl empties.

I can't post now,no camera or smart phone. I'll check/repair the carb and fp. It sounded pretty healthy when it was running,so hope it's just this minor stuff.
