It runs but bogs at higher throttle settings.

FP rebuilt
Carb has new needle and seat, float does not leak, jet is clear, nozzle is clear, runs well at lower settings
New points and condensers: inline spark tester shows strong firing on both at all settings. Coils look good and pass static resistance test.

Is float supposed to be parallel to top of carb when inverted ?
Are the reeds possibly at fault?

Occasionally it will seem to hit what seems like full revs when commanded.

Compression is about 115 on both.

Sounds like the fuel isn't getting delivered right?
Try running with cover off.
Try hooking the fuel line direct to the pump. Remove the inline connector.

High speed jet clogged?

Carb float level is even when inverted.
How much drop when it's right side up?
Should almost touch the post.

Thanks for the reply. I've gone through the carb a few times...jet and nozzle are clear. Low speed responds well to the needle. I'll check float drop.

I forgot to say that sometimes it gets unstable to the point it loses throttle response and dies...usually,if not always, after a higher rpm run of several seconds.

Could exhaust ports be restricted?

"Could exhaust ports be restricted?"

It's possible that wasps got in there and built a huge nest up in there BUT then at low speeds it wouldn't allow water out.

Try the fuel line with no connectors??, run it direct to the tank.
Try running with the cover off?

I ran it direct to the pump but the carb is worse now since my attempt to fix the needle-seat-bore issue. I had damaged the carb trying to remove the retaining clip which snaps-in right above the viton seat.

I might have to get another carb. It's a Walbro LMB 229. Do you have one or know where one might be? I'll check ebay.
