i have a 200ETXK and it burns a lot more oil than the other engine, any idea? i have been searching the forums but all i can find is the linkage falls off, bit it is still on there. is there a way to adjust it? i have never touched this linkage. i think its this rod that goes from the pump to the carb and its about 6 inches long

Re: 1984 200 yamaha using to much oil

Yamaha oil pumps are mechanical. They have a pump that is run by a gear on the crankshaft. Engine demand does not change the oiling, only the rpms change the oiling. If you have an engine that is using more oil than the other, the link is in place. The oil pump is set to the correct mark on the lever arm, then change the pumps around on the engines. Make sure to bleed them. Run them and see if it changes from one engine to the other. The only factor I can come up with, is that your engine burning too much oil has a faulty pump. But, I have never seen a Yamaha pump fail, short of being submerged in salt water or a crank gear getting screwed up. That would not be your problem.
