I just finished getting a friends tilt working properly. I checked the latching paws to make sure they would latch down.

They took it to the lake today and called and said this. "When I put it into forward and idle, everything is fine, but when I throttle up the outdrive flys up out of the water.

For the life of me, I would think while it is in forward, the outdrive would push itself against the back of the boat. Any ideas? I'm headed to the lake tomorrow afternoon to figure out what is going on. Any insight on what I should check would be helpful.

BTW. they did say at the end of the season last year they had hit a rock causing the outdrive to fly up just prior to loading on the trailer. This is the first time they have had it out this year. Thanks............SS

You have a LH turning prop.
Could be the lockdown mechanism is damaged when it hit bottom, but more likely it was just worn out and the hit on the bottom was the last straw.
