1984 35HP Generator Question

I have a generator coil under my flywheel. Since I have bought this motor, its been giving me some troubles, but I seem to have solved most of its issues. I am still running into some issues when the motor has been transported or running for a while. It dies out and won't run correctly.

I'm about to try a new CDI, but remember seeing something about having an unhooked generator creating problems in the charge coil and or stator/flywheel. My engine starts fine. First or second pull. Idles well but decides not to run at some point and time during the day.

Does anyone remember seeing the service bulletin about this generator being disconnected?

Is it safe to try out my new CDI?

I have seen that bulletin, but I'm skeptical about it till somebody gives me a scientific reason WHY it should matter. I mean from an engineering standpoint, not just a bunch of possum poop.

Re: 1984 35HP Generator Question

I seem to remember reading about unwanted currents developed in the charge coil. And a sign of that was a colored coil (burned). To this date I have not seen any coloration other then a pretty new looking coil. In the world of magnetic current/voltage induction I am lost.

I think I will go ahead with my CDI swap for experimentation sake.
