Here are the symptoms to my 1984 Evinrude 50hp.
First - Noticed earlier this summer that the fuel seemed to be surging/pumping to engine at a pulse rate starting at about 8mph without touching the throttle. The pulsating stopped once I accelerated a little faster.
Secondly- I can no longer accelerate the engine without it bucking & coughing and finally stalls out.
Third - The engine starts fine and I can maintain about three mphs but will stall out if I start to accelerate.
Could this be a fuel pump problem? Will a fuel pump that is ready to quit cause this engine surge and drop?
