1984 90 hp evinrude

i just bought my first boat it cranks fine but when i give it gas it bogged down.so i replaced bulb,spark plugs and wires.now when i crank it it idles high i think about 2000 rpm its this normal?anybody with any tips i am all ears thanks

Lets get a little history so we know where we are. Has the motor been sitting? If the history is actually unknown, I'd suggest a good carb bath and new OE kits along with a water pump & cooling system service.<br /><br />If it is indeed "idling" at 2000, for goodness sake dont try to shift it.

thank you for your help it was i guess would be a manifold bolt had come loose and fell into the carb.once again thanks
