1984 90 hp merc no spark #4

anouther problem with da merc. i checked my plugs and had one that wasnt sparking so imediatly i figured it was a coil issue so i changed out the coil but still no spark. i used a plug from a diff. cylender and also a wire from a diff cylender and i know that #4 has no fire. would the switch box be the problem or sumthing else. any ideas? so many issues so little time.

I had trouble with one cylinder losing spark, No. 1 Cylinder top thought it was the coil, wrong, CDI box bad, must change both boxes to prevent old box from blowing the new box, Problem that started every thing was the stator throwing a power spike or lack of a trigger message to the cdi box at 3300 rpm under load. Mercury's get hot with the insulated engine cover. May contribute to problem.

thank you for your reply. both boxes huh? that kinda stinks , they arent to cheap!!! ill have to check to make sure it is a box. ill switch em around i guess and see if my spark apears or not. thank you again!!

new coil and different switch box , no spark #4. would a trigger be an idea? also how hard is that job? i have a puller but i look and see this "special" puller for mercs. with my puller i have a centering device but still have to pull 3 bolts on the hub is this the same as the " special" merc one?

the merc puller threads in to the top of flywheel
the puller you have will work
when puting in the bolts thay can go too deep and hit the triger coil

ok thank you!! this isnt that tuff of a job to do from what ive pulled from other threads? not sure when i will tackle this part but i will post when i do. probably with other issues. also what is the torque specs when i reinstall the flywheel? thank you.
PS i will get a book on this motor if i dont sell it first!!

Still no spark on number 4 but whent fishing anyway, well almost!!!!! ended up dro[[ing number 1 and 5 cylenders, now barelly runs on 2,3,6 cylenders. well i was running wot and she just bogged down in a heart beat!!!!! still runs but....... so with it just dropping cylenders like that , would that sound like a trigger or stator? any ideas ??
