I just finished fixing the transom bolts on the gimbel and I took the nuts off all the six bolts in the bielge area and removed the thick washers . Next I applied polyurathane to all the washers and re- inserted them on the bolts. Then I re-threaded the nuts on the bolts. Lastly, I put plywood stringers on the bolts and applied polyurathane on the wood stringers an inserted them back on the bolts , then threaded another washer on the bolt and then threaded the nuts to tighten. Then I put a beed of the polyurathane all aound the outside gimble and left everting to cure. Why am I writing this? Beause I thought this might give someone else who may have beilge leaks in the stern beilge. I can't wait to try it on the lake next year. After inspecting the project I believe the transom is still sound although I did have to spray some polyurathne foam into a void between the fiberglass and the plywood on the starboard bottom bolt. This was excruciating gettng my head and arms under the back seat frame down into th beilge. I am really proud of my self becuse I have been working on this boat for years. You name it: uppolstry, carpet, wiring, fuses , beilge pumps and blowers not to mention timing both basic and fine tuning the points, fan belts, timing belt, coils, horn, lights, gages, gasoline gage especially, tailer lights, bearings, tires ,dog house ventalation and carbuator rebuild, exhaust bellows, drive bellows , the s hose , the throtle replacemnt. I probably left a bunch of stuff out but you get the idea anyway. I hate to be poor or I would have just bought a brand new boat which I probably have by now. Thanks for reading for what it's worth!
