Well, If you had ever taken one of those switches apart, you would see that the contacts are actually onlt thin copper plates on a backer board. As you rotate the switch, various contacts are energised. If corrosion has compromised the connections, then there is a good chance that the switch will not work. It is suspicious that choke which works when in run position will not work in start position.
As I said before, With someone holding the key in start position, chek the "S" terminal on the switch for 12 volts with either a VOM or test light. If you can not easily get to the switch, then test at the neutral interlock switch on the engine--opposite the starter, below the carbs. If no voltage there, it is a good bet that the switch is bad. However, before replacing the switch, check the yellow wire on the engine terminal board and at the switch for breaks or a loose connection.
To replace, buy a standard 6 terminal push to choke switch. Sold right here at iboats.
