Greetings Gentlemen- I am trying to figure out if I need to make any adjustment to these hanging hoses in my engine compartment. I am experiencing no problems; just wondering if they are attached correctly. The ends of the 3" hoses go to ventilation louvers on the exterior. And, what does the Attwood 'ignition protected' part do? Thanks for looking, Arty

Ideally both hoses should reach down near the bottom of your bilge. There should be a hose from the fan reaching into the bilge. Other than that they look OK.

the "attwood ignition protected" is actually your bilge blower...... It is there to force fumes out of the bilge before starting the engine and at low speed..... There will be a switch on the dash marked "blower". The hoses should not reach to the bottom of the bilge but rather should reach below any electrical components such as the starter but be above the level that water would be likely to reach before being pumped out by the bilge pump.

Also get that battery in a tray (if it isn't now) or better yet a box and get it tied down.

Something doesn't look right with that... there is no hose coming from the inlet side of the blower? Should be one going to the lower part of the bilge to pick up any fumes... am I thinking correctly here?

that is correct.... the inlet side of the blower should also have a hose to pull fumes from the bilge

Thanks a million guys! Now I'm thinking that there were a couple worn out hoses laying around the bilge area that I just discarded (7 yrs. ago). I'll buy a couple hoses, and make sure that blower even works in the first place. Kudos to all! Arty
