1984 evinrude super 40 plug gap closing... wrong plugs???

I have a problem with my spark plugs. The gap keeps
closing on them. The motor had L77jc4 plugs. The boat shop gave me QL78YC. I dont know if the heads has been machined, but the QL plugs sit deeper in the cylinder and wont hold the correct gap. Do i have the wrong spark plugs? ... 1984 evinrude Super 40 model# E40rwcra... Thanks, Roy

Put the L77JC4's back in it. The QL78YC's were used from '94 and up.

Thank you boobie. I'll get them today. Should i gap them at .35?

Set gap at .030 ".

Thank you again. I wasnt sure on the gap. Some say .30 if running wot more and .40 if trolling more. We do both so i was going to split the difference...
