Getting ready for initial start up on my Force 85 with what looks like its original single stick shifter. Couple silly questions.

When in neutral should the cam at the engine be right on the neutral safety switch?
How do you use the controller for just throttle? (sorry im used to twin sticks)
When I try to pull it out for neutral it does not want to cooperate.
I rebuilt the wooden backing plate but did not disconnect anything.
Has a large Script letter B on the center cover What brand is it?

Thanks in advance

Just have to pull harder to make it into fast idle.
Then push forward, it won't go very far.
Yes the Neutral Safety switch (white button) should be centered on the cam.

None of the detents on the shifter line up with the safety switch. Is this an Adjustment? When I attach the arm and put the screw in it pulls the center neutral brass “ peg” out all the way making the shifter useless, if I only screw it in loosely the shifter works but when I pull for neutral it slips off the cogs, is there a spacer or shim or something that goes in between?

None of the diagrams look anything like the shifter I have while all the photos and videos online show the shifter I have.

How do you use the controller for just throttle?-- PULL the Lever away from its housing & move forward, if this does not work; there's either something wrong with the shifter OR your control-cables are hooked-up wrong at the engine

Your handle might be on wrong?
Shift until the motor is in N
Spin prop to make sure.
Then see where the handle ends up?

I can make the handle go anywhere I’d like. I have it unscrewed, one screw seems like something is goofy

Ok I have read and watched several videos on throttle-remote control setup. Everything is adjusted and lubed properly. How do you rev a force 85 engine in neutral when the throttle tower is blocked by the shift pawl on the engine? It moves out of the way when in gear but in neutral the timing shaft/tower is blocked from moving? Yes my shifter works great by pulling it away from the side but... Never Mind I guess thats normal i do have the appropriate 1/8 gap. That is a dumb setup

It's like that so you won't over rev the motor.

I appreciate that Ive around 2 stroke motors since 1970. Not quite sure why a 3 cylinder boat motor is any different than a 3 cylinder motorcycle motor. Never ever worried about over reving a 2 stroke in my life before this. I may cut that sucker off.
