Looking for someone that has removed these crossflow Powerheads before.
I'm beginning my first powerhead rebuild..I go slow and careful not to break anything, I'm good at getting old crusty bolts/screws out too. The 6 long bolts (3 per side) were tight, Had to apply heat/cool....But they all did back out about 1" to 1 1/4" THEN JUST SPIN.
My thought was the bolts unscrewed downward from the powerhead threaded portion ok,,,and now are just spinning in the Exhaust adapter housing due to the old corrosion.
I cant really get under the lower cowl to tap downward on the bolt heads to see if they will come out fully...If I have to fully take them out of the Exhaust adapter I will have to come up with some thing to go over the bolt that will extend down with a "L" lip that i can tap with a hammer.
Else, If these bolts are truely free of the powerhead threads, I will resume my next step--Lifting the PH off.
Has anyone done this that remembers how far these bolts come down when free from the powerHead as a guage for me??
Thanks
Mark
