I Just rebuilt all 3 carbs and the motor ran the best ive ever heard it run. Got about 1 mile from marina on carb rebuild test run and the motor died. Ran out of gas. Got gas, started motor. Bulb not retaining pressure must continue to pump bulb to keep motor running if I stop the motor stops recieving fuel and stalls. Does this motor have a fuel pump? is that my issue or should i be looking at the bulb and fuel lines?

your motor has a vacuum operated fuel pump.

The fuel line needs to hold pressure when the motor's not running; ordinarily the bulb will stay firm all day...if the bulb goes soft while the motor's off, then it's either sucking air upstream of the bulb, or leaking fuel downstream. Check all the fittings at the tank and under the cowl. Listen close for a wheezing sound while you squeeze the bulb. Also make sure the carb float valves are closing off completely.

If the line is holding pressure, then the fuel pump needs rebuilding, very easy. Repair kit, about $11 on iboats, you'll also need some gasket remover and permatex #2.

Thanks JTexas. You helped out. Ended up it was a split in the fuel line leading up to the screen cap on the fuel pump. changed all fuel lines and rebuilt fuel pump for good measure. Thanks for your help it is greatly appreciated, without your advice I might not have figured it out. (never owned an outboard before the primer bulb and fuel delivery baffeled me til now).
