I have a 84 Bass Tracker wth a 1984 50 Merc on it......I bought the boat without the engine running.....

I have been trying for the last few days to get it going......

what I have...
-fresh fuel
-just installed new switch box
-cranks over, but no spark

Just found two white wires coming from what i beleive the stator that goes to what appears to be a relay box mounted in front on the front plate of engine. These two wires are corroded and dry rotted......

What can I expect by taking the top flywheel off.......anyone have a link to a micro feesh breakdown?

Engine I do not believe was run much at all since 84, not even paint off the prop....allthe wires to switchbox are nice and clean no paint chipped or taken apart before

My next thought is the dry wires......if then...no spark..then coils........anything else???

Starting taking ti apart......Removed the stator...those two white wires going into the stator are shot and corroded....Now I know what I have.....Do the coils normally take a crap on this engine????? they will be my last hope.

It was the bad stator wires...Installed a new CDI stator and fired right up....now at least I have one engine running out of three...back to being number 1 on the water
