1984 Merc 9.8 Flushing??

I noticed there is a screw and above it says flush on the outdrive. I was struggling to get it off and just said the heck with it for now. What exaclty do you have to do to flush these motors? I know on others there are some quick hookups or using muffs on the lower unit. Is there any special adapters you need to flush it out?

If you get the screw out the adapted to adapt it to the hose is NLA so find a large bucket as crude as it sounds and put the unit in it with a hose to flush it.

Dont mess with this. The flush plug opens a hole into the water pump housing and it may not seal again. Unless you have a problem with overheating then leave well alone.
