Working on my boat yesterday and noticed it would idle at 800 and then go up to 1200 so I would turn the screw to idle it down. Then it would almost die so turn it back to idle it up. Then I took the fuel filter out of the pump and it was dry. No gas came out of the pump bowl. So out of curiosity I started it and it ran like it always does with the bowl and filter off. No gas sprayed out of the pump or anything. Is the pump shot? Why is the filter dry? Didnt look like any gas was in the bowl and filter while idling for 15 minutes.
