OK, I seem to be the only one here that has had this problem. I have a '84 75 4cyl. Mercury OB. The motor is a pain to start in the mornings. If I let the sun shine on it a while it'll fired right up and run and start great the rest of the day. But if I go out early it will not start. I've taken it to the shop and they leave it inside all night and it fires up fine but they really don't have a way to leave it outside and that's when I have the problem. It doesn't matter if it rains or if it's clear at night. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Those inlines always were cold blooded. Trim the motor all the way down. Pump the primer bulb until it forces gas out of the carb overflow. (With the motor trimmed down, the gas will go into the crankcase. Trimmed up and it'll just dribble out the front.) Give it a little throttle, choke, and start.

This is where I mention that there is no Automatic feature on the choke. Push the choke button and it chokes. Let go and it stops. Not everybody understands how to choke motors anymore. EFI cars have been around long enough that an entire generation has never had to deal with carburetors. But it's second nature to old farts like me. ;)

I appreciate the advice but the problem seems to be electrical. It doesn't seem to have any fire until it warms up.
