S/N 6847830

I removed the Lower Part of the Stern Drive to replace the Water Pump. All went OK.
Unfortunetly I damaged the Seal bottom Housing (not sure on the name. see pictures) trying to
remove the stucked ORING that was located in the Driveshaft top cavity.
Now Am I in trouble?
How do I remove the metal part of the Seal so I can replace with a new one?
How to install the new one?
Please what is the part number for that Seal?
Thanks

Just for fun.... check out this recent thread.... the OP had to replace the same seal, plus some other work.... Should have some good background info for you to start with. Good luck! KB

By the way... that little o-ring on the shaft has caused more trouble than it is worth! Recommended to NOT put an O-ring there when you go back together. It is not needed.

And this thread, too (more relevant):

Pay particular attention to the part that advises to remove the upper from the boat for this work.... You'll be glad you did. :joyous:

Good 2nd link there ^^^ ;)

That is a common repair many have had to do. There is an actual tool called a seal puller you can use to remove the remaining piece:

seal puller - Google Search

Tap the new seal in with a socket on an extension the same OD as the seal.
