Just bought my first boat and very excited about using it....however I noticed that there is a hole on the back end of my boat. Can't figure out what it is? Thought at first it was my drain plug, but that doesn't seem to be it either. Asked a rep at
West Marine and he said that was normal as it releases water. He also said that this is normal on all boats. Skeptical, I looked at pictures of other boats and could not find any boats with a hole similar to mine. Don't wanna get in the water if, this hole will take in water. Any help is appreciated?

Thanks Ready2Fish

Wecome to IBoats, Sorry, but I cant make out what is what in that small picture, or what hole your talking about. Take some other pictures, showing more area, and if possible point out what hole. Is there anything hooked up to it, from the inside?

We are looking at the transom port side ??? Looks like a hole for some sort of fitting . . . maybe a trim tab project that was started and never completed???

Anyway, better plug it up . . . if you put it in the water with that hole in it , the boat might just end up staying there (under the water)

assuming you mean the lower hole--probably a drain from a livewell. Inside you should find a hose hooked to it that runs forward; the drain in the bottom of the livewell (or similar locker) will be above the waterline.

I have that set up on a boat and since I don't use the livewell plan to plug it. It puts your boat at risk if any of several cheap old parts fail.

I have a 1984 Rinker Cuddy Model 205 that has a drain plug bottom dead center of the transom. Nothing like that photo....Does your hull have other holes in it?

Thanks for the reply. The hole is the top one. Let me take some more pictures of the hole and the area in which the hole comes out to. Hopefully that will give you a better idea.

The lower bottom hole in the picture has a plastic plug and cannot be removed. There is a plug that is way at the bottom, by the motor that looks like a drain plug, however there is no drain plug either. In fact, I don't have...or can't even find a drain plug in my boat. Nevertheless let me take some more pictures and post them for reference.

That's what I thought too. In fact that's why I was hesitate to go with what the guy at West Marine said. Thanks for the insight. Definitely don't want to see my first boat go under. Let me post some more pictures

It's actually the top hole, that bottom one is actually plugged. Thanks, let me post some more pictures.
