Well I was given a 1984 16' starcraft boat just had to go pick it up in Galveston Texas. I was told it was an Aluminum boat so i figured i couldnt gor wrong with Aluminum prces.
I went and picked it up with its paper work and to my surprise doesnt look to bad. It had sank:(
Motor was seized but the floor looked solid and the transom looks good.
By the way it sank because the plug was left in it for about three months and we had lots of rain.
im hoping to get a little help here when i need it. But my first question is be fore i tear into this motor i want to know if it is worth it. It is an 1984 65 hp comercial evinrude.
My question is what size motor should it have smaller, bigger or that is good.
what kind of speed should i get out of it. say 40 mph
i want to set it up for fishing.
I am going to dig into it deeper and see what in it needs to be fixed, just wanted to get on the board and introduce myself. plan to be here preety often.

Hello Arlo,
The 65 on a 16-foot Starcraft lummie is probably a good mix. You're in the ballpark at 35-40 mph...
