Hey guys, i bought this big 24’ sunrunner cabin cruiser this year.. perfect shape very well maintained, ive taken it out several times now without any issues at all..

Took it on a 35km trip down the lake at cruising speed and noticed i missed my destination slightly, so i impulsively cut throttle back to idle quickly, i stopped and the boat started running rough and died and i smelt gas....

fired up the blower, opened engine bay and it appeared that fuel came out the top of the car where the flame arrester is..
so i let it air out a tiny bit, cranked it over and it wouldnt start, and fuel started pouring out again..... so i dropped the kicker went to my destination, hung out for a couple hours went back in the boat and shut the fuel off to the carb... it fired up, i let it run for about 10 seconds and turned the fuel back on... made it all the way back to the boat launch like nothing happened..

now im wondering what happened? Did i cut throttle too quickly and flood the motor? Or is there something else?

Any modifications?
Like an electric fuel pump?

Clean the carb.

Still mechanical fuel pump with a remote spin off fuelfilter/water separator, has been upgraded to electronic ignition, if i continue to have issues ill have to bring it in to get cleaned or rebuilt as im not very familiar with automotive carbs. Boat runs awesome otherwise.... idles beautifully and has a ton of power. Engine bay is pristine.
