Hi guys and gals. I have a problem here. I bought a 1985 Johnson 15 hp with a rope pull starter. It was pretty much in pieces when I got it. I got a manual and started working on it. No, I did not check the compression before I bought it,but got it very cheap. I got a 14 foot Polar Craft flat bottom and it needed a motor very badly. So, I let that make me get it when I knew that I probably shouldn't have. The lower unit oil was just black, when I changed it,not milky,so I felt good about that and changed it. Changed the impeller and put the lower unit back on. Next, I changed the spark plug wires and new plugs. I rebuilt the fuel pump and got that back on. I fogged the cylinders with Staybil fogger. I went and rebuilt the carburater as it was in a bag,it was a little rusty and had a bad gas film on it. The airbox was all there and the screws too. Now comes the starter. It was removed but all together except for the spring that holds the pully on,I got a new one. While trying to put the starter in,I noticed that there was nothing from the twist tiller to the carburater, that is where I am stuck. Nothing really shows what goes there. I am thinking a part is missing. Can someone please show me what goes there.

I got the starter out of the way now. The end of the spring was broken off at the pully after all of the time trying to keep it all together. What a waste of time. But a good find after all. After trial and error at least I know how to put a starter in. Now back to the original problem. Nothing linking tiller to carburater.

I just emailed Leroy. Thanks for trying to help me out. I am about ready to start it up. If I only knew what this part that is missing was.
