 I have rebuilt a 1985 150hp Johnson (new pistons, rebuilt carbs, bearings, boysen power reeds, and gaskets). I have 12 hours in the break in. Motor runs great but is a bear to start. I do not know if I have a fuel pump problem or somthing else. Fuel system has been checked from the tank to the motor and can not find anything that would cause it not to prime properly. Once it starts it runs fine. Just takes about 10 min to get it running.

Any sugestions

Doug.... 10 minutes of cranking is enough to melt the solder on the starter armature.

Are you holding the key in to choke/prime the engine when attempting to start it?
