1985 30 h.p mariner stuters

I just bought a used blazer bass boat with a 30 h.p mariner,it starts at the touch of the switch,,idles good but when under a load it will not rev,,my guess,, above 2200 rpm,,had the carb off and cleaned well,,high speed passage clear,,carb o.k ...I feel its an ignition problem,,been a mechanic for 31 years,,just not outboards,,i need help guys...waynebo

yes it may be fire having same trouble / i found mine with a timing light -noticed when rpm's came up lost fire.CK it that way or just pull one at a time and listen for the miss

Tested the spark and 1 cylinder will fire fine while the other will miss,next time it might be the other cylinder firing good and the one one that was fine before will now be missing,never will both fire perfect,,just one good and the other with a miss,,stumps me,,would it be the primary coil or the c.d.i unit or trigger device? anyone? waynebo:'''(
