1985 454 7.4L TIMING

hi,this engine has been through hell and back, 3 rebuilds in two summers.i just need some advice on setting the timing.in going to buy a timing light tomorrow .on the thunderbolt iv there is a stamp that says V824. the last two digits [24] <br /> is this my total timing? 8 deg TDC + 16 deg= 24total . i need some one to walk me through THANKS :

8* before TDC at idle....24* @ 3500 rpm. 8 (initial)+ 24(advance) = 32 (total). No more than 34* total @ 4000 and above....4* degrees below these values is within acceptable parameters.....JK
