I've got a 1985 mercury 50 hp. Every year I take it out for the first run and it is fine. Usually the next day I'll try to take it out and it will stall out in idle and have much more difficulty starting. Twice, however, I have driven it to a repair shop and once there, it runs great (with muffs). Wondering if maybe something is sticking. I had quite a bit of work done on it last year, new carbs, replaced float (or needle??) new fuel line, and tank. Any help would be appreciated.

I can not believe that new carburetors were needed.----Not much goes wrong with them !----This sounds like the classic " too lean on low speed mixture " problem.-----Take the time to learn about adjusting them.-----Try opening both screws 1/4 turn and see if stalling goes away.
