So here is my situation. We were out in our pontoon boat yesterday. The kids had to go in for a minute so we docked the boat and stopped the motor for a few minutes. I started it back up to head out and it ran for 30-45 seconds and died and hasn't started again. The starter engages but it just won't fire.

So far I have changed the spark plugs. I put on a spark plug tester and it lit up on all cyclinders. The spark plugs are also getting wet. However maybe there isn't enough spark to fire it up.

I want to check the stator and the trigger but keep finding conflicting information on what wires I should measure the resistance on.

Could it be the rectifier? How do I test that.

Please help me out thanks.

The serial number on the motor is A188403

I got the following reads when I checked the resistance on the trigger and stator. I don't have a dva to check max volts.

Red/white to ground 1.128
Blue/white to ground .481

Blue to ground 1.123
Red to ground 1.122

Purple to white .770
Brown to white .000

What did you use to check spark? Have you tried squeezing the primer bulb or squirting pre mix fuel into carbs while cranking?

I used an inline spark testing light. It was very faint but lit up on all cylinders.

I have not tried squeezing the bulb. However the spark plugs appear to be wet and I can smell gas when I try starting it.
