We replaced the stator and found out that the metal washer that came with the new one from CDI we did not need and we did not know that until we put the new one on and it fired a few times and then slug the washer out from under the flywheel.
Now with that being said we replaced the power pack. coils, stator and trigger ( don't know why the trigger but I needed like 7 more bucks to get free shipping and that is what I bought.) We got it to fire off a few times but it would not run on its own I had to keep play with the cabs. Could that being a timing issues? Well when we put the stator on it came with that washer and we did not know what to do with it since the manual did not say anything and the part did not come with instructions we decided to put it on and after a few starts it did not have anymore spark. I tested the stator wires with the ohm meter and before we put it on it was reading .582ohm and after it stopped working it did not ready anything so, I know we took the stator out again. When that happened could that have hurt any of the new parts we put in? Also, are stators that delicate? I mean I am sure that what happened with that washer was not a good thing but we checked all wires and we did not see any that were in bad shape.
Also, when I would turn the key to start the motor and it started I would let go of the key and the motor would shut off. Could that be a timing issue? The switch is new and worked fine until the boat broke down the first time a couple of months ago. Like I said before the boat ran great and ran strong so I don't mind spending a some money to get it running again.
Any help or suggestions would be great.
Thanks
Wade
