HI There,

I have a couple questions about a 1985 140 with operating VRO that I bought recently. I was going to change hoses & clamps to my vro pump just to be safe, cause I don't want to unhook it. My vro has 4 wires & I believe has the gray fuel fitting on it so I guess it was updated & hooked up with a warning horn. My question is it also has what I believe to be a vacume switch mounted underneath the vro pump & when I did a little research only the V6 engines used this vacume switch, would this be a fuel alarm & should it be on this engine. Is anyone familiar with this udated version for a 140 hp. I have one more question I am in the process of re-painting it & the lower unit is a dark metalic blue paint, mid-section is a silver, & the hood is standard silver & dark blue is this the right colors for a 1985 140 or should the whole bottom end from powerhead down be all silver?

Thanks so much,
Lance

The switch with the red lever? That is the electric choke solenoid and should be pointing down or otherwise will run very rich. In case of emergency if battery power is lost where you can't choke it by pressing on the key you can flip the red lever up and pull start the engine. My 85 140hp is silver from top to bottom with dark blue decals and silver lettering on hood.

Thanks so much, I don't have a book yet, I guess I did not even think of it being a choke way down there. Thanks again,
Lance
