Were you trying to diagnose a problem, or just checking the timing?

Yes I have been fighting a issue. One that would come and go it would not act up when set up to find it . As to the timing light routing or cheap light no its top notch snap-on .
The problem that had such a time finding was the timer base had a wire that would make contact then not when not top rpm was 3000 after changing timer base it jumped up to 4200 still 1000 shy of where it should be.
So after checking fuel system and carbs I was ohm tested the power paks found the older one below the what cdi called for 100-200 it was in the 80s . The new pak I put on last season is in the range of the 100- 200 but was a 17% difference which cdi says more than 10 change. I called cdi they said timing. So I ordered 1 pak changed the bad one went to the lake couldn't set timing from number 1 cylinder so I set it from #2 no difference in rpm still 4200 so sounds like I need to change out the pak that I replaced last season

I don't think the problem is in my pak unless I have 3 bad ones.
What else besides a pak would keep it from firing #1
Stator or timer base ?

Some time ago OEM packs where made/supplied by CDI so be careful...you will pay OEM price for CDI product. Check timer base spec's....

When I do the ohm test between the white wire and the three sensor wires it reads 0.07 on both sides.
I have 3 different pp and non of them will fire #1 with a spark plug in it but if I move the orange green wire to the number 1 coil it fires fine .

Here is what I'm trying to understand on my ohm test of the timer base if all 6 sensor wires ohm the same then why is it only not firing #1 ?

Don't always trust a ohm test on a timer base .
In my case here using 3 different meters to make sure ! Tonight I broke out the dva adapter and done a voltage test voltage should be between 0.6 and 2.5 cranking. The voltage was low on that side causing my problem. Changed timer base with one I had on a spare motor and I have good spark on all 6 now. Thanks to those who helped.
