I've replaced the impellar in this engine, and after replacement of everything the engine will not stay in reverse. Took it to a mechanic to have him checkout the lower unit gears and clutch dog. He said everything was fine. I'm thinking I may have bumped the shift rod out of place? Does that sound right to ya'll? It will stay in gear if you hold the lever back in the reverse position, but you can feel it trying to jump out. Will stay in reverse all day long on the muffs, just jumps out whenever it is in the water under a load.
I'm posting some pics with serials, and the lower unit.
