Hi everyone so today I’m changing the impeller on a 1985 evinrude 8hp. It’s my first time working on an 80’s model evinrude/Johnson. When I went to take the impeller off the drive shaft came out a little too. Is that okay is it supposed to be able to pop in and out like that? I immediately pushed it back down. Do I have to make sure to realign it with the gear in the lower unit or do I just simply push it back down and that’s that. ?
