I connected all the wires as the diagram indicated. The battery has a full charge, and when I turn the key all I hear is a click. When I look at the motor it looks as though the caburator is doing what it should be doing to prepair for ignition. Someone mentioned that there could be a fuse inside the motor that may need to be replaced. Is this correct? Any suggestions would be great.

Thank you,
James

If you just turn the key the click you are hearing should be the starter solinoid engaging. This should have no effect on the carburator. To engage the choke on the carb you would need to push the key in not turn it. If choke is being engaged by turning the key something is not wired correctly.

Go to Engine FAQs, James. "Outboard wont start".

That will fix you up.

Re: 1985 Force 85hp not turning over

Problem fixed. I was looking around the motor head and I noticed that there is a button that needs to be pressed in by the choke cable in order for the motor kick over. I set the connection so that button would get pressed, hit the key, and sure enough, it turned over. I have to get the adjustment correct on the choke cable and the throtle cable. I think once I get the adjustments done, I'll be running fine. Thanks all for the help.
