Re: 1985 Force 85hp PLEASE HELP

Hi I had a motor like yours, close in years. I ended up giving it to my brother, along with the boat. It was mounted on a 19' Lyncraft. I think the motor was underpowered. The prop was the old style, and was not in great shape, maybe that was the biggest problem. The motor ran like a dream, didnt even have to choke it. The gears went out and I didnt want to put any money into it, because nobody around here likes chrysler motors, and it would be hard to sell. I dont know how true it is, but I am told that chrysler motors really are rated below what is on the hood (Not rated at the prop or something)
I think my brother wants a different motor for the boat I gave him, so maybe you could work out something with him, if you have a good lower unit.
Email me if you are interested. My email is mnmfors@aol.com.

I had a force 85 made in 1984, super motor and never had a problem with it. But if I had the same problem that your having I would have traded up. The cost vs the time on the motor is just to high.

Re: 1985 Force 85hp PLEASE HELP

I got one for $200. A Bayliner, 85 Force, and trailer all from '85. The Transom is gone and some of the floor. I plan on fixing it for practice for some important work on another boat as the boat looks fair otherwise. The motor just flops on there now, but I hooked up the two year old stinkey gas to it and a battery and it started up in seconds! It would foul a plug after idling a few so I put new ones in. Have to get it off there some how. The price was right, what can I say? The trim falls down after a couple of days though, and I put a tube in there to keep it up.
