I have a 85 Hp Force that runs great but doesnt seem like it wants to go ito drive completley when the control is all the way forward, is there a way to adjust the shift linkage on the motor itself?

Re: 1985 hp Force shift linkage

IF???? Your ABSOLUTLY sure the shift cable is ok and can't be adjusted right.
This includes the lower unit where the shift rod goes through the seal.
Sometimes the seal gets gummed up or corrosion builds up under the seal and pinches off the rod and travel is restricted.
If that all checks out.
Under the bottom carb where the shift rod comes up from the bottom.
There is a double nut on the shift rod.
It can be backed off and the bottom nut moved up.
In all my years I have had to adjust this nut only once.
The owner was suffering from hard shifting and forced it for a year before getting it looked at.
Turns out the seal on the lower had corrosion build up and pinched the seal and made it almost impossible to shift.
