1985 Johnson 140 TXCO wiring diagram

Both small connectors on my starter relay have a 12 volt
reading. My Seloc manual only gives the engine wiring diagram to the large red connector. Could someone help me with the rest of the schmatic which would be from the red plug forward or the entire schmatic from another source. Thanks Dude31142@aol.com

Your local library may have the service manual for that engine which would have the wiring diagram within it.

The small 3/8" hex nut terminal on the starter solenoid should only register 12 volts when the key is turned to the START position.

I took Joe's advice and went to three library's. Two library's didn't have what I needed and the third one the manual was not available. I still need a wiring schematic for my 140hp Johnson. Any suggestions?

I have not found a complete wiring schematic. I only have a schematic for the wiring from the red plug to the engine and not from the red plug to the remote control. I found that one of the small terminals on the starter relay was not grounded. The other small terminal had 12 volts when the key is turned to the cranking mode. I made a jumper to go from the other small terminal to ground and the engine turned over fine (I'm not in the water). Where did the original ground go? What should I expect?

A wire would lead from the "S" terminal of the ignition switch to either of the small 3/8" hex nut terminals of the solenoid. Then a ground wire would lead from the other 3/8" hex nut terminal of the solenoid to ground..... any portion of the powerhead.

With the above, turning the ignition key to the START position would provide 12 volts to the first 3/8" hex nut terminal which would flow thru the solenoid's electrical magnetic circuit to ground. This pulls in the solenoid's plunger which would connect the two larger terminals to engage the starter.
