1985 Johnson 150
Today we were on the lake a little choppy full throttle and the engine momentarly quit running, I throttle the engine back and it recovered. It was as if it ran out of gas or some type of electrical short. I applied full throttle on plane and away we went and it did it again. While the engine was idling I felt the fuel bulb and it was soft. While the engine was running I pump the bulb until it was hard again and away we went. Runs fine a low speed this does not happen all the time. Could this be a bad check valve or fuel pump? The VRO seems to be operating.

Note:
I have replaced the Volatage Regualtor I have checked the stator and it is good. I have removed and inspected the carberators and replaced the fuel lines.

Get an adjustable gap spark tester from a decent auto parts store ,
set the gap at 3/8th inch, remove all plugs, ground them and test each cyl for blue spark with a good battery.
If you get good blue spark rebuild the carbs with new carb kits.
Consider getting the factory service book.

A mechanic will charge you $100 per carb plus parts,
just DIY in an easy afternoon.
