It will shift in into forward with no problems, but when you try to shift into reverse it wants to grind and sometimes you have to go back into neutral and try to shift again. Also, when going from reverse to neutral, sometimes it will go into forward. I have read that if it idles high this could cause shifting problems, I will check the idle rpms next time I am at the cabin. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

How hard is it to change the cable if that is the problem. Also, its seems to be less of a problem after the boat has warmed up.
