Hello Iboats forum users.

I have a 1985 Merc Black Max 175, today I went to take a little fishing trip, and couldn't leave the dock because the motor, when titled up, ran fine, but while I was lowering into the water, it would shut off. Later on, while lowered into water, it would start, and run, but when I tried to turn the wheel to one side, it would shut off as well. I pulled out, since my batt went dead. Got home, hooked another battery, tried again, and the motor ran fine no matter what I did. Any thoughts?

Sure, Your ignition killer wire sounds like it has a bare spot that grounds out when turning or tilting.

My thoughts too! I thought it had to be an electrical problem. I will look into it tomorrow. Many thanks.
