1985 Mercury 25XD

My Serial # is 0A173598. <br />In the SELOC manual for this engine, it shows the Serial numbers for the 1985 25XD as beginning with 6593849. Why is my number not in this range?<br />I notice that Merc only made the XD in 84 & 85. Has this proven to be a good model? Any known problems/weakness? How does it differ from earlier and later 25 HP models? Thanks in advance for the help!

i have a 1985 25xd just bought it from a buddy last year and love it, has great power and on my little 14ft starcraft really rips, im in the process of putting r/c controls on it but its never had any major problems just change the lower unit oil/ plusgs, and add fresh gas every year and i was told they will run forever
