Bought the boat (1985 Cimmarron bass boat, never heard of it either) last year towards the end of summer. It was someone’s fathers who passed a few years back and he decided to sell it. Had videos of it running. Stated he had to use starter fluid. Picked it up for $2000. Went to clean the carbs and they weren’t even dirty, cleaned them anyways, replaced factory tank and line coming from tank and no difference, had to use starter fluid every time I cranked the motor. Also did not want to idle. I would have to crank it and immediately give it throttle. It would run good with the throttle up but as soon as I put it in neutral it would die. Well it slowly got better just from taking it out. The last run of last summer I didn’t have to use starter fluid when I put the boat it. However I anchored it for about an hour and it didn’t want to start. Even with starter fluid. I kept trying and trying and finally it started and I booked it to the ramp. Well it sat all winter and I went to take it out last weekend and after I charged the battery it started in the yard (with some starter fluid) and ran fine. Got in the river and it idled like never before, ran it WOT and it did good for about 30 minutes then choked out and died. Saw I had a gas leak at the tank and the line going to the squeeze bulb. Tightened it up to where it didn’t leak and it still wouldn’t crank. Pulled the plugs, checked for spark and couldn’t get any plug to spark on any wire. It seems like I have a fuel issue and now a spark issue? Can anyone point me in the right direction? I’m an auto mechanic so I have general ideas but I’m new to boats. Any help or guidance is very much appreciated. Also I know in the picture there is a bare wire coming from a ground. I’m about to untape every thing and fix every broken wire but that was 100% like that when it was running last year.
