1985 mercury 9.8 walbro WMB 3 carburetor venturi?

Hey guys i just bought a carb kit for my walbro and it came with a venturi, i tried to place it in my carb but it seems to be too big to fit in, my carb didnt seem to have one in the first place.... do these particular carbs run without one? or should i file the ears down to fit?

These carburetors use a " boost venture "-------The nozzle is taken out when installing that item.

Thanks for the reply, i removed the choke shutter but the venturi wont even go into the body of the carb the diameter seems to be too small... i see what youre saying about removing the main jet cause it comes up into the bottom of the plastic venturi. oh well guess ill just file the ears down or something lol.
